The DLC allowed me to live out my Viking dreams but in the end, it just made me a bigger target. I like the mental approach to world-building, using Aztec coins to play gambling machines is a nice touch but I just couldn’t enjoy the gunplay or general world traversal. Camping is a big deal but I can’t lay it at cuisine Royale’s feet as a unique thing as its more a battle Royale issue. The enemies are hard to see, loot is quite sparse and nearly every player is in their underwear. It’s got nice maps, humor and core gameplay with ritual style events that spawn on the map, but the shooting is temperamental and loose with a high level of patience needed. The game itself has a lot of giving and take going on.

It’s free to play but add in the paid DLC bundles on offer and you get special skins, characters, and few trinkets. Starting off as an April fool’s joke, Cuisine Royale made fun of the genre adding in things like tinpot hats, kitchen utensil weapons and generally a lot more humor than what we had previously seen. The Battle Royale genre is not running out of innovation and new ways to play.
